Findmutlu Sounds: A Claude Code Mod for Funny Agent Notifications

JavaScriptProductivityClaude CodeOpen SourceClaude Code Mods

Overview

I work with ten Claude Code terminals at the same time, each with its own agents running under it. I wanted to hear when one of them needs me, and working with sounds turned out to be a lot of fun. findmutlu-sounds plays a short line from a game or a show at the moments that need me, and at no other time: Claude waits for my OK, a long job finishes, a test fails, a push goes through, the conversation gets compacted.

Each moment gets a line that fits it. With StarCraft a waiting permission prompt asks "You want a piece of me, boy?", a failing test with the Protoss says "You must construct additional pylons", and Age of Empires converts the compacted chat with "Wololo". Terran from StarCraft is the default pack for new installs.

The teaser, 28 seconds. Turn the sound on.

The packs

The packs come from StarCraft (terran, protoss, abathur), Warcraft (peon, lich, tauren), Age of Empires II (aoe, and aoe-turk with Turkish villagers, "Allah Allah!" and war cries), Command & Conquer (red-alert, yuri, cabal), Diablo II (necromancer, diablo), Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2, Stronghold Crusader, Oblivion's Sheogorath, Rick and Morty, Mr. Meeseeks, The Big Lebowski and the NASA radio. My own clips work too: a folder with a pack.json under ~/.config/findmutlu-sounds/packs/ becomes a pack.

The pack tour: the best known packs play their famous line in turn. Turn the sound on.

How it works

The moments are: ordered (a prompt after five quiet minutes), needsYou (a permission prompt, a question or a plan waiting for me), longDone (a turn of a minute or more is answered), subagentStart (a villager is created), subagent (a subagent finishes), failed (a test, build, lint or type check fails), pushed (git push goes through), compacted, and mcp, an optional trebuchet when an MCP tool runs. There is at most one sound every 2.5 seconds across all terminals, so a handful of subagents finishing together give one sound, not a choir. Quiet hours from 23:00 to 07:00 are on by default.

How it works: a session, drawn as a Fat Invader at its laptop, sends each moment to the speaker. Turn the sound on.

Since version 0.1.4 every moment can play its own pack: /sounds pushed aoe-turk makes every push a Turkish war cry while the rest stays StarCraft. A moment can also play one fixed clip, a mix of packs, a random clip from any pack, or nothing. /sounds shows what every moment plays, and /sounds test plays a pack so I can hear it before picking.

The clips are the original game and show recordings, as shared on 101soundboards and openpeon, and they belong to their publishers. The mod is free fan use, not endorsed by any of them, and every pack lists the source of each clip in its CREDITS.md. If you hold the rights to a pack and want it gone, open an issue on GitHub and it goes.

Install

findmutlu-sounds runs on macOS, where Claude Code plays the clips with afplay, and needs Claude Code 2.1.287 or later. Install asks nothing: the first session names the pack and the /sounds command.
